Overview of relevant publications on clinical decision support systems from 2025 (XtraTrack Season 2026)

Overview

20-04-2026

The presentation provides an overview of publications on AI-based decision support over the past year. It focuses on meta-analyses, systematic reviews and large randomised controlled trials, but also highlights particularly significant publications selected according to thematic criteria.

Prof. Dr. Cord Spreckelsen - Institute of Medical Statistics, Computer and Data Sciences - Jena University Hospital

Cord Spreckelsen is Professor of Medical Informatics at the Institute for Medical Statistics, Informatics and Data Sciences at Jena University Hospital. Prior to this, he worked for many years as a senior scientist at the Institute for Medical Informatics at RWTH Aachen University. From 2009 to 2025, he was head of the working group ‘Decision Support in Healthcare’ (formerly ‘Knowledge-Based Systems’) of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometrics and Epidemiology (GMDS). His research team has many years of experience in applying both logic-based and data-driven AI methods in a medical context. These applications include AI-supported medical decision support, the imputation and prediction of medical time series using generative AI, and AI-supported optimisation of hospital logistics. A current research project deals with the classification and prediction of long/post-COVID from longer-term symptom progression data. Cord Spreckelsen's working group contributed to the development of federated data management approaches and cross-location, privacy-friendly deep learning. Based on generative AI approaches, the team also developed methods for anonymising medical images and DNA sequence data through data synthesis with algorithmic assessment of the re-identification risk.
